The Test d’Évaluation de Français (TEF) is an internationally recognised French language proficiency test, administered by the Paris Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIP). It is widely used for immigration, citizenship applications, and academic purposes. The TEF assesses key language skills, including listening, reading, speaking, and writing.
As an official TEF exam centre, Alliance Française de Manchester offers exam sessions and preparation courses to help you achieve your goals.
The Alliance Française de Manchester is the only registered centre in Manchester for:
You will receive your results and official statement of results by email, approximately 2 to 4 weeks after the exam date. They will be sent by the CCIP.
The TEF is available in different versions depending on your specific requirements:
• TEF Canada – Required for Canadian immigration applications.
• TEF Québec (TEFAQ) – Required for Québec immigration applications.
• TEF Intégration, Résidence et Nationalité (IRN) – Required for French citizenship and residency applications.
All versions of the TEF are computer-based, except for the speaking component, which is conducted in person with an
examiner. Results are sent by email within 2 to 4 weeks.
The TEF Canada is a French evaluation test for immigration to Canada.
It is made up of four (4) obligatory tests: reading, listening, speaking and writing.
You must take all of these tests on the same day.

The TEF Québec (TEFAQ) is a French evaluation test for immigration to Québec.
It is made up of two obligatory tests: listening and speaking and two
optional extra tests: reading
and writing.
You can choose which of these to take, depending on your requirements for your application.

The TEF Nationalité IRN, (formaly known as TEF Naturalisation) is a French evaluation test for French naturalisation.
It is made up of four (4) obligatory tests: reading, listening, speaking and writing.
