France: 1820s. Lucien de Rubempré, a young lower class poet, leaves his family printing house for Paris. After a few menial jobs, he finds work as an art critic. Soon, however, he experiences the dark side of the arts business, and tries to stay true to his dreams.

Tickets can be booked in advance for individual films at £4 plus booking fee but a limited number of tickets will be available to purchase on the door at £5 per film (cash only). Please note that Alliance Française de Manchester members are entitled to two tickets for the price of one upon production of a membership card at the door.
