Did you know fin-de-siècle French erotic literature often explored themes of decadence, gender ambiguity, and psychological complexity? Mark la St. Valentin by attending this online conference by Dr. Helen Craske, Cambridge, who will chose a few readings, including by the lesser-known author Rachilde, and put them in context for us.
Who is our guest? Dr. Helen Craske is a scholar specialising in French literary, media, and visual culture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She completed a Research Fellowship at Merton College, Oxford (2021–2024), and currently serves as a Bye-Fellow at Downing College, Cambridge. Her first book, "Complicity in Fin-de-siècle Literature," was published by Oxford University Press in 2024.
