Courses for all levels and wishes...

The Alliance française de Manchester is not a language school like any other.  Indeed, we are THE specialist of French teaching in Manchester! As a non-profit making association locally based our action is dedicated purely to promoting the French language and French speaking cultures.

All of our tutors are native French speakers, qualified and experienced at teaching French as a foreign language. Through regular assessments they will follow your progress closely and advise you personally.  Our small groups have a maximum of 16 students allowing you to feel at ease and benefit from more individual time with your tutor. Each of our classes is equipped with a computer linked to a large flat screen in order to provide your learning experience with all the current technological facilities!

Our methodology is to place an emphasis on immediate communication so that our students can communicate in French as quickly as possible in personal or professional social situations.

Our courses are in line with the CEFR, which is the European Standard Reference framework for languages, and cover all levels from Beginner to Advanced and are aimed at meeting every need: General French, conversational, exam preparation, one to one and business classes.

Not sure of your level?  Call us on 0161 236 7117 and make an appointment to come and meet Isabelle our Course Director who will advise you on the most suitable course for your level.  It is free of charge and normally takes no longer than 20 minutes.

Every year more than 1600 students entrust us with their French language requirements! And so, which course will you choose?

To be sure of a place on a course, all you need to do (after assessment if necessary) is complete a form and pay the course fees (unfortunately we can not reserve any place without payment).  We accept payments in cash, by credit/debit card (except AMEX), or by cheque (made payable to the "Alliance française de Manchester").  If required we can issue an invoice to your company.

You can enrol in person or by telephone on 0161 236 7117 (in this case, credit or debit card only).  You can also fill in the online pre-registration form. Once we have received it we will contact you by phone to complete your registration.

Every student enrolling automatically becomes a member of the Alliance française de Manchester for one year and can enjoy the benefits attached (loans from our media library resources, reduced ticket prices for our cultural events etc.)

Please read our registration conditions carefully before enrolment.
