French Concert

On April 12th 2024, the AFM is delighted to host a talented musical trio at our premises at 125 Portland Street!

Georgina Bloomfield (violin), Hanna Csermely (piano) and Cillian Hennessy (cello) are students at the Royal Northern College of Music. 

They will be performing a programme of music written by French composers including Ravel, Boulanger, Fauré and Debussy:


Tzigane – Maurice Ravel (violin and piano)
D’un matin de printemps – Lili Boulanger (violin, cello and piano)
Nocturne – Lili Boulanger (violin and piano)
Après un Rêve – Gabriel Fauré (violin, cello and piano)
Girl with the Flaxen Hair – Claude Debussy (violin and piano)
Violin Sonata in G Minor – Claude Debussy (violin and piano)
Cillian Hennessy – 10 minutes of solo repertoire 
Hanna Csermely – 10 minutes of solo repertoire 

Join us at 6 pm for an hour of enchanting music, followed by a drink and light buffet.

Georgina Bloomfield – Violin

Georgina Bloomfield is a violinist from the Peak District. So far she has enjoyed an exciting and varied musical career, having been a member of the National Children’s Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra and the Junior department at RNCM. Georgina has been performing as a soloist from the age of 9, in venues such as St. George’s Hanover Square, the Adrian Boult Hall and most recently with Liverpool Sinfonia in Chester Cathedral. She is the violinist in the Silja Piano Trio, which is currently exploring performing a wide and vibrant range of music from Shostakovich to Clara Schumann. 


Georgina is currently in her third year at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she studies violin with Catherine Yates. She has had many exciting opportunities whilst studying at the RNCM, including playing as principal second violin in their recent production of Die Fledermaus, and performing Bach’s Double Violin Concerto with RNCM String Orchestra as part of the RNCM Strings Day.




Hanna Csermely – Piano 

20-year-old Hungarian pianist, Hanna Csermely, started having piano lessons at the age of 7. Since then, she has won numerous prizes at music festivals and competitions including the award for ‘’Most Promising Pianist’’ by Mark Tanner, she was a prize winner in the RNCM ‘’Underrepresented Competition’’ and was awarded the pianist prize in the ‘’James Martin Oncken Song Prize’’. 

She has given a large number of recitals and concerts after achieving a high distinction in her ABRSM diploma during her studies on the Hampshire Specialist Music Course with Dr Samantha Carrasco. Venues include Steinway Hall, Winchester Cathedral, Festetics Castle (Hungary) and many more. 

She is currently studying with Helen Krizos at the Royal Northern College of Music.



Cillian Hennessy - Cello

Cillian is a young cellist with experience in a diverse range of performance settings, from playing in chamber ensembles and orchestras, to recording music, and even to premiering contemporary works. Cillian currently plays on a Marc Laberte cello which has been kindly given to him on loan from the Musical Instrument Fund Ireland.

Currently in his 3rd year of study at the Royal Northern College of Music, Cillian strives to constantly better himself as an artist. Having studied with Morag Griffin from the Ulster Orchestra, Cillian is now studying under Gillian Thoday, a renowned pedagogue and former pupil of André Navarra. In his studies Cillian strives to find his own unique and compelling sound. Cillian is a recipient of the Marie Thecla Kieran Award which, alongside a scholarship from the RNCM, has given him a fantastic start to his studies in conservatoire. In his first year of study, he was also awarded the Amy Lindley Prize for Cello.

Currently, Cillian is a member of the Toska Quartet and the Silja Piano Trio in which he has performed in several recitals and masterclasses.
